All around London town

We had a great night of horizontal sleep and woke up feeling almost human again.  It was a busy sightseeing day.  We had our continental breakfast and then headed to our coach (which is fancy British for “bus”) for a short ride to King’s Cross station, made famous for Harry Potter’s departure from Platform 9 ¾ to Hogwarts.  Noah tried to run through the wall to reach the train while I waived on sadly…He didn’t make it through but said “I okay” --- just like when he was little!

We saw the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace and learned Her Royal Majesty was indeed in residence today though she did not ask to meet us.  (She was probably busy with that whole to EU or not to EU – that was the question.)

We had a bit of a coach tour around Parliament Buildings and saw Big Ben before stopping for lunch at an outdoor market near the River Thames.  Noah made a few calls --- amazingly, there are still many of those red phone booths around London --- and they still contain working payphones!

On to the Tower Bridge and London Tower.  We saw the Crown Jewels and looked at the prisoner graffiti on the walls of the jail there. (I think this may entitle me to write this off as a business trip so I am posting them below.)

Back to the hotel and a short stroll to dinner at an Italian restaurant.  I had a bellini and Noah tried an Italian beer called ichnuso.  He said it was good but he liked the Foster’s better.

I think we are adjusting to the time – It’s 8 PM here and we are both still awake tonight!  Tomorrow, we have plans to visit the theatre and shopping district and if the weather is nice to take a boat ride on the Thames to Greenwich.  Will keep you posted.
